Formula One racer Mark Webber wants Eric Bana to play him in a movie. The Australian actor is known for his roles in “Hulk,” “Munich” and “Star Trek.”

Webber’s new autobiography, titled “Aussie Grit,” which was released on July 1, details his 14-year racing career with nine Grand Prix wins. When asked by CNN who he wants to play him in the film about his life, the racing driver simply said, “Eric Bana.”

Bana has yet to comment whether or not he is interested in playing Webber in a biopic. Currently, he is filming Guy Ritchie’s “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur,” which is set to be released on July 22, 2016.

In 2016, Bana will star in at least four films, which include “Special Correspondents,” “The Finest Hours” and “The Secret Scripture.” The last film the Australian actor starred in was the 2014 horror film, “Deliver Us from Evil.”

In 2013, Bana played a real-life character in the war film “Lone Survivor,” which was based on a 2007 nonfiction book of the same title. He played Lieutenant Commander Erik S. Kristensen with Mark Wahlberg as Marcus Luttrell, Taylor Kitsch as Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, Emile Hirsch as Danny Dietz and Ben Foster as Matthew Axelson.

The 2016 biopic “Elvis & Nixon” was supposed to feature Bana as the late Elvis Presley, but he dropped out of the film. The role will be played by “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” actor Michael Shannon opposite “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey as the late Richard Nixon.

Years ago, Bana was also rumoured to play the late Steve Irwin in a film, but recently, it was reported that “X-Men” star Hugh Jackman is being considered for the role. In September, both Bana and Jackman attended the annual Red Ball at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne, Australia, Herald Sun reports.

The Finest Hours is the remarkable true story of the greatest small boat rescue in Coast Guard history. Presented in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D, the film will transport audiences to the heart of the action, creating a fully-immersive cinematic experience on an epic scale. On February 18, 1952, a massive nor’easter struck New England, pummeling towns along the Eastern seaboard and wreaking havoc on the ships caught in its deadly path, including the SS Pendleton, a T-2 oil tanker bound for Boston, which was literally ripped in half, trapping more than 30 sailors inside its rapidly-sinking stern. As the senior officer on board, first assistant engineer Ray Sybert (Casey Affleck) soon realizes it is up to him to take charge of the frightened crew and inspire the men to set aside their differences and work together to ride out one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast. Meanwhile, as word of the disaster reaches the U.S. Coast Guard station in Chatham, Massachusetts, Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff (Eric Bana) orders a daring operation to rescue the stranded men. Despite overwhelming odds, four men, led by Coast Guard Captain Bernie Webber (Chris Pine), set out in a wooden lifeboat with an ill-equipped engine and little, if any, means of navigation, facing frigid temperatures, 60-foot high waves and hurricane-force winds.

Disney’s The Finest Hours is directed by Craig Gillespie (Million Dollar Arm) and stars Chris Pine (Star Trek), Casey Affleck (Interstellar), Ben Foster (Lone Survivor), Holliday Grainger (Cinderella), John Ortiz (Blackhat) and Eric Bana (Deliver Us from Evil).

Netflix has unveiled the first photo of the complete cast of Ricky Gervais‘ original movie “Special Correspondents,” which debuts exclusively on TheWrap.

Eric Bana stars as a struggling New York-based radio journalist whose arrogance and decadent lifestyle has hindered his career. With his job on the line, he fakes front-line war reports from the comfort of his hideout above a Spanish restaurant in Manhattan.

Gervais co-stars alongside Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“Bates Motel”), Kelly Macdonald (“Boardwalk Empire”), Kevin Pollak (“The Usual Suspects”), America Ferrera (“Ugly Betty”), Raúl Castillo (“Looking”) and Benjamin Bratt (“Law & Order”).

Gervais wrote the script for the modern satirical comedy, which started shooting last month in Toronto and will wrap in New York City on July 3. The film will debut on Netflix next year.

“Special Correspondents” is a co-production between Bron Studios and Unanimous Entertainment, and Gervais, Chris Coen of Unanimous Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert, Manuel Munz and Larry Sanitsky will produce.
